Reflecting on my time at IE University fills me with gratitude and excitement. My journey wasn’t just about gaining knowledge; it was about celebrating diversity, forming lifelong friendships, and uncovering my passion for peace. From the stunning streets of Segovia to the energetic vibe of Madrid, my experience at IE was truly transformative.

The Beginning: Segovia

My studies began in Segovia, a city that felt like stepping into a storybook. The beautiful architecture and rich cultural history created an inspiring backdrop for my academic journey. One of the most remarkable aspects was the diversity among my peers. I found myself surrounded by students from over 100 different countries, each contributing a unique viewpoint. This blend of cultures enriched my education and significantly broadened my worldview.

During my first two years, I became the International Officer for the IE MENA Club. This role allowed me to engage deeply with students from the Middle East and North Africa, especially after living in Kuwait for so long. I organized events such as cultural nights and discussion panels that attracted over 50 students each time. This experience taught me the importance of listening and understanding in fostering real community and collaboration.

Transitioning to Madrid

After two years in Segovia, I transitioned to the vibrant city of Madrid for the next part of my studies. The dynamic atmosphere here was a stark contrast to Segovia's calm charm. Madrid's energy inspired me to delve into creativity and innovation. The city became my canvas, and I thrived in its academic environment.

Continuing as an IE Ambassador, I proudly represented the university at various events. I conducted campus tours for prospective students. These interactions not only refined my public speaking skills but deepened my appreciation for the diverse backgrounds of my fellow students. Each prospective student brought their story, making every tour a unique opportunity to share my love for IE and to learn from those hopeful to join our community.

Discovering My Passion for Peace

As my university years unfolded, I became more aware of how language and communication can bridge cultural divides. This realization inspired me to focus my thesis on a topic close to my heart: "Speaking Peace."

Inspired by my experiences, I explored how language could serve as a tool for peacebuilding and conflict resolution. Working closely with my thesis supervisor, who specialized in negotiation, I gained valuable insights into communication's nuances. Our discussions sparked my curiosity, leading to a more expansive exploration of how effective dialogue can lead to understanding and healing.

The Thesis Journey

Writing my thesis was a labor of love. I dedicated over 250 hours to researching, writing, and refining my work. Throughout this process, I remained motivated by a clear purpose. I wanted my research to have a meaningful impact on the ongoing discussions about peace in a world often marked by division and the current situation in Gaza.

With my supervisor's support, I honed my ideas, structuring them in a clear and engaging way. The final product was a thesis I felt proud of, and ended up receiving a grade of 98/100 which served as validation for my hard work and dedication.

The Impact of Diversity

Looking back, it's clear that diversity profoundly shaped my experience at IE. The friendships I formed with students from various backgrounds not only enriched my life but also became a powerful source of learning. I discovered the value of different perspectives, challenged my assumptions, and celebrated our differences as strengths.

Immersed in multiple languages and cultures, I grew more adaptable, open-minded, and empathetic. These qualities are essential in today’s increasingly globalized world, especially as we all navigate diverse workplaces and relationships.

A Reflection on Growth

My time at IE University was more than just academic learning; it was a journey of profound personal growth. The experiences I had, friendships I built, and knowledge I gained all shaped the person I am today.

As I move forward in my career, I hold on to the lessons learned during my university years. I am committed to promoting peace and understanding in all my interactions, motivated by the belief that fostering dialogue is crucial in an often-divided world. My journey at IE has equipped me with the tools to contribute meaningfully to this mission.
